Stravaigin Sailing is more than a company; it’s a way of life. As a small family-run business, our roots are deeply intertwined with Scotland’s West Coast. Inspired by the old Scots word Stravaigin, meaning “to wander without intent,” we embrace slow, immersive adventures that celebrate exploration, discovery, and connection.

From raising our children on a modest wooden boat to sailing as far as the Mediterranean and North Africa aboard Stravaigin, the sea is in our veins. Today, we share our floating home and love of this coast with guests, offering unique, meaningful adventures with friends we’ve yet to meet.

A really fantastic week spent sailing and wild swimming with John and Dan the Merman aboard Stravaigin. We were really well looked after and enjoyed excellent food and company. Very highly recommended to anyone looking for a Scottish sailing adventure. A big thank you to John and all the other new friends we made on board!

Just back from a wonderful sailing/swimming trip with Stravaigan Sailing. The sailing experience was excellent, I felt safe at all times but it was also thrilling as the waves were crashing and we were soaring.
The swimming was stunning, we swam to places I couldn't imagine getting to any other way. The was distance swimming, dips and playing in the waves. All abilities were catered for, with a bit of Gaelic singing thrown in too.
The fresh oysters were amazing as was all the food.
To top it all the company couldn't have been better, we arrived as strangers and left as friends.

Great first time sailing experience! The views were stunning, and John’s expertise made the trip both educational and enjoyable. For beginners like us, his hands-on approach helped us to really grasp the basics of sailing. Highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning to sail or just enjoying a day on the water!
